Funeral services for Hidde "Pete" Doornbos will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, May 26, 2017 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Michael Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Tymochee Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M.
He died at 9:18 A.M. on Monday, May 22, 2017 at his residence. He was born November 19, 1933 in the Netherlands, to the late Tjaard and Jantina (Bakker) Doornbos. On Jan 17, 1965 he married Linda Kanzig and she survives in Kenton.
Also surviving are 2 sons; Eric (Deanne) Doornbos of Kenton, Rodney (Robyn Keiser) Doornbos of Kenton, 2 daughters; Sylvia (Gary) Heilman-Hadsell of Lima, Annette (Michael) Williams of Palm Coast, FLA, a sister; Martje (Cor) Glass-Doornbos of the Netherlands, a brother; Lammert (Maryke) Doornbos of the Netherlands, 7 grandchildren; Jennifer White, Rebecca White, Dustin (Katie) Hadsell, Derek (Page) Doornbos, Justine Williams, Rebecca Williams, Hunter Doornbos, 5 great-grandchildren; Khloe, Onna, Nolan, Lance, Braelynn and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a sister; Lina (Piet) Oud, a brother; Klaas Doornbos, and a great-granddaughter; Peyton.
Pete retired from Durez after 30 years and also farmed for many years.
He was a member of the Marseilles Presbyterian Church, the Kenton Moose, the Kenton Masonic Lodge, the Aladdin Shriners, and the Hardin County Shriners.
Pete enjoyed going camping and hunting.
Memorial donations may be made to the Hardin County Shriners and the Marseilles Presbyterian Church.
