Services for Henriette (Baude) Gerlach will be held at 10:00 Saturday, November 5, 2016 at Price - McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton, with Pastor Robert Cochran officiating. Burial will follow at Dunkirk Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 Friday, November 4, 2016.
She died at 7:20 pm Monday, October 31, 2016 at Parkview Hospice in Fort Wayne, IN. She was born on July 11, 1925 in Villers -Sur- Ferre, France to the late Achille and Marie Eugenie (Hocquet) Baude. She was the youngest of 17 children and last surviving child. In 1945 riding her bike to work in Saint Germain, France, a suburb of Paris, she met Donald E. Gerlach, while he was on guard duty. On October 27, 1945 they married and Donald preceded her in death on October 24, 1990.
Surviving are 2 sons, John (Nina) Gerlach of Dunkirk and Dan (Donna) Gerlach of Fort Wayne, IN; 3 granddaughters, Tanya Erbe of Arlington; Melanie Gerlach of Findlay; and Mary Ann Gerlach of San Mateo, CA; 2 grandsons, Nicholas Gerlach of Denver, CO and Andrew Gerlach of San Mateo, CA. Also surviving are many great grandchildren.
Henriette worked as a waitress in Dunkirk and for many years at North Electric in Kenton.
She attended the First Lutheran Church in Findlay. She enjoyed a membership in an International Club where she met many friends from various countries some of whom attended First Lutheran Church with her. Her dear friends Loni, Erika, Maria, Doris, and Helen got together often mainly to enjoy one another's company and a glass of wine or two.
In retirement Henriette and Don moved to Findlay and for the last four and half years she resided at Park Place Senior Living in Fort Wayne, IN.
