Graveside services for William Newman will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Hale Cemetery in Mt. Victory. Family and friends may call from 10:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Price McElroy Funeral Home in Mt. Victory.
Bill passed away Sunday, July 2, 2023 at Mercy Health Clermont Hospital in Batavia. He was born on August 2, 1932 in Roundhead, Ohio to the late Earl & Florence (Uline) Newman. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Kathryn "Kate" (Shoffner) Newman.
Also surviving are his sons; Thomas (Anita) Newman and Mark Newman, daughter; Jolene (Deron) Shinkle, and grandchildren; Aliza (Scott) Cox, Natalie Newman, Karalyn (Tommy) Willard, Austin (Amanda) Housler, Maddy Newman, Delaney Ratleff, Logan Shinkle, Liz Shinkle, 6 great-grandkids Noah, Colton, Kaidence, Grayson, Eloise, Thomas, and several nieces and nephews.
Bill was a 1950 graduate of Mt. Victory High School. He served in the Army and was a Korean War Veteran. He worked for 10 years at the Marion Power Shovel. He was in the logging business until he retired. He loved playing the bass guitar and enjoyed classic country. He played with the group Pickin & Grinnin for several years. He had a deep love for animals, especially dogs.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Hardin County Humane Society.
