Todd Smiley Obituary

Todd Michael Smiley 6o

of Reynoldsburg formerly of Mt. Victory

Todd Michael Smiley, age 60, passed from life on this earth into eternal, heavenly peace on Monday, May 12, 2025. Born on April 8, 1965, in Kenton, Ohio, he was the middle son of Norman E. Smiley, Jr. and Carolyn Mae (Harp) Smiley, who survive in Mt. Victory. Todd grew up in Mt. Victory and was known for his work ethic, academic accomplishments, athletic pursuits, and kindness to all.

Todd was a graduate of Ridgemont High School, Class of 1983. He graduated from The University of Findlay in 1987, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and began a 38-year career in retail management.

On June 4, 1988, he married his college sweetheart, Barbara (Stengel) Smiley, who survives in Reynoldsburg, Ohio, where together they raised their four sons: Jacob (Haley), Nathan (Emma), David (Gianni), and Caleb, all of central Ohio. Todd was proud of his sons and took joy in the growing family circle. He was a loving husband and dad, a steady provider, and a proud and constant supporter of their school and sports activities. Todd was delighted to be a grandpa of three: Maverick, Kailiah, and Luka Smiley.

Todd is survived by his brothers, Keven Smiley of Kenton and Bradd (Michelle) Smiley of Delaware; nieces Danielle (Heath) Bolen, Amanda Smiley (Kyle Holden), Aly (Jon) Bower, and Ashley Smiley; and great-nephews and nieces:  Alexa, Colton, and Paisley Bolen; Stiles and Ava Holden; Connor, Braylen, Oakley, and Aubrey Bower. He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Norman E. Smiley, Sr. and Elizabeth (Adams) Smiley, and maternal grandparents Leroy and Lucy Mae (Newland) Harp.

In addition, survivors include his father- and mother-in-law, Palmer and Betty Stengel of Bellefontaine; brother-in-law Carl (Brenda) Stengel of West Liberty, and sister-in-law Susan (Mark) Koons of Bellefontaine; nieces and nephew Sarah Stengel, Bradley (Erin) Stengel, and Amanda Koons; and great-niece and nephews Lyda, Harvey, and Myles Stengel.

Greatly missed by all who knew and loved him, Todd will be remembered for his hearty laugh, his helpful nature, and his great loves:  pizza; OSU football; his church family and friends; his parents, brothers and their families; his wife, sons, and their families; and most of all, his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, in Whom he had put his hope and trust.

On Friday, May 16, his family gathered to honor Todd with a private ceremony at Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Mt. Victory, followed by burial in Hale Cemetery and a family luncheon to celebrate Todd’s life.

Memorial contributions may be made in Todd’s honor to Ridgeway Church of Christ or Jersey Baptist Church.
