Funeral services for Thomas Irvin Marquis will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Jim Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery. Friends and family may visit 2 hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
Thomas died on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at St. Rita's Hospital in Lima. He was born on August 30, 1949 in Kenton to the late Arthur Marquis and Beulah (Gillespie) Nichols. He married Kaherine Newland on April 20, 1969 and she survives in Kenton.
Also surviving are 1 daughter; Korinna (Brian) Kennell of Verona, Virginia, 1 son; Thomas E. (Deanna) Marquis of Patterson, 4 sisters; Reeta, Hazel, Iris and Robin, 2 grandchildren; Miranda and Brayden Marquis, 2 great-grandchildren; Adaline and Aria, several nieces and nephews and his best friend; James Legge.
He was preceded in death by 1 sister; Cheryl Marquis, 1 niece; Crystal Marquis and a step father; Robert Nichols.
Thomas graduated from Kenton High School in 1967. He later went on to serve his country becoming a proud United States Marine Veteran serving in Vietnam.
Thomas was a Hardin County Deputy Sheriff and worked for Ohio Power, retiring after 35 years. He was a member of the NRA and had attended the former Four Square Gospel in Kenton.
He enjoyed fishing, gun collecting and was also a gunsmith. Thomas was very handy and could fix anything but most of all he loved his family and was always considered a "family man" and grandpa.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
