Funeral services for Shirley Hastings will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Gregg King officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery in Kenton. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the funeral home. 

Shirley passed away on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Green Hill Center in West Liberty. She was born on October 6, 1938 in Hepburn, Ohio to the late Harry and Janie (Kline) Strawser. On March 21, 1959 she married Carey Hastings Jr and he preceded her in death.

Surviving are her sons; Tom Hastings of Kenton, Gary (Joni) Hastings of West Liberty, Tim (Kim) Hastings of Kenton, grandchildren; Tommy, Megan, and Landon Hastings, 2 great-grandchildren, a brother; Lynn Strawser of Kenton, and her cat; Marigold.

She was preceded in death by a son; David Hastings, brothers; Charles, Merle, James Strawser, and a sister; Beverly Bice.

Shirley was a homemaker and was a Sunday school teacher for 39 years.

Shirley loved to be outside in her flowerbeds, pulling weeds and planting her garden. She also loved to crochet and make gifts for her family and friends. 

Memorial donations in Shirley's honor may be made to the Hardin County Garden Club or Universal Hospice.
