A memorial service for Ruby Barger will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Grove Cemetery Committal Building in Kenton. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Ruby passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at her home in Kenton. She was born on September 11,1926 in Hepburn, Ohio to the late Sylvenus and Mary (Mullenax) Wood.  On June 8,1947 she married Richard W. Barger, and he preceded her in death on January 16, 1985.

Surviving is her daughter, Judy (Carl) Massey of North Carolina; son, Richard (Rick) (Lydia) Barger of Dublin, Ohio. Four grandchildren, Nick and Drew Chaplinski and Meghan and Brandon Barger.  A step granddaughter and two step grandchildren. A brother, Robert (Betty) Wood and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruby was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Richard "Bus" Wood and five sisters: Martha Allen, Mary Hatch, Helen Paul, Dorothy Styer, twin-sister Ruth Conkle, and sister-in-law, Lela Wood.

She was employed at Kenton Middle School as a secretary. Ruby also volunteered for Hardin County Hospice for many years.

In her free time, Ruby enjoyed crochet/sewing and cooking.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Not By Choice or Mary Lou Johnson Public Library.
