Rowland LaVern Vermaaten 84
of Mt. Victory
Rowland LaVern Vermaaten died on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at Hardin Hills Nursing Home in Kenton. He was born on February 4, 1938 in Orange County, California to the late John and Helen (Stookey) Vermaaten. He married his childhood sweetheart, Carolyn (Wells) on September 11, 1960 at the Fairview United Methodist Church. They celebrated 62 years of marriage.
He is survived by one sister; Donna Ray of Clinton, Indiana.
Rowland graduated from Kenton High School in 1957. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of the National Guard, Hardin County Restorers and Collectors. He collected Case garden tractors.
He was employed at Kenton Fire Department, Osborn Furniture and retired from ALLTEL Ohio Telephone Company after 34 years.
Rowland attended the Rhinehart United Methodist Church.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 3, 2023, at The Rhinehart United Methodist Church. It was Rowland's wish to be cremated. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Mt. Victory is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rhinehart UM Church, P.O. Box 143, Mount Victory, Ohio 43340.
