A public visitation for Ronald E. Retterer will be held from 1:00 P.M to 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. Masks will be required and Covid-19 protocols should be observed. A private family burial at Rushsylvania Cemetery will take place at a later date.
Ron died on Friday, February 12, 2021 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born on January 5, 1936 in Belle Center to the late Woodrow and Betty (Scullin) Retterer. He married Connie Williams and they later divorced. He then married Marcia Price on July 26, 1984 and she preceded him in death on May 9, 2017.
Surviving are 5 children; Ronald "Pete" (Susan) Retterer, Roger Retterer, Bethann (James) Gibson, Robert L. (Becky) Rowe Jr, James R. (Brandi) Rowe, grandchildren; Brett (Tiffany) Retterer, Scott (Jacalyn) Retterer, Kimberly (Jeremiah) Bailey, Katy (Ryan) Newland, Mary Retterer, Adam Retterer, Tyler (Vicky) Gibson, Megan Rowe, Brady Rowe, Cora Rowe, Derek Rowe, Miranda Rowe, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 sisters; Shirley Jones, Sharon Appleman, Toni (Jerry) Pfister, Peggy Herron and numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful companion, his dog; Dinozzo "Nosey".
He was preceded in death by 3 brothers; Gary Retterer, Terry Retterer, Rickey Retterer, an infant brother and a sister; Sandi Middleton.
Ron was a U.S. National Guard Veteran.
He was a member of the Kenton Moose and Eagles.
Ron worked for Kaiser Estech for over 30 years and also retired from Walmart after 15 years. He was a founder of the Not By Choice Outreach in Kenton which is a local cancer outreach to help those struggling with the disease.
Ron enjoyed playing cards, and watching OSU and the Cleveland Indians.
Ron's family would like to thank caregivers and his neighbors, Jerome and Mandy Getz for all of the love and compassion.
