Ronald C. Allen Sr. 89
of Arlington
Ronald Clair Allen Sr., age 89, of Arlington, Ohio, passed away peacefully on January
27, 2026, at Serenity Spring Senior Living, with his devoted wife by his side.
Ron was born on December 25, 1936, in Hardin County, Ohio, the son of Orval and
Martha (Wood) Allen. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Nancy, and
his brother Jimmy.
Ron was a man who found purpose in creating and building. He began his career as a
draftsman at International Car Company, where he designed cabooses, and later spent
37 years with Kenton Structural and Ornamental Iron Works in Kenton, Ohio. His work
mattered to him, and he approached it with care, patience, and dedication. He also
proudly served in the Ohio Army National Guard for six years and was a first responder
during the early days of BKP, always willing to step forward when he was needed.
Those who knew Ron will remember his quiet nature, steady presence, and many
interests. He loved to read, especially western novels that carried him into worlds of
adventure, and he found joy in model trains, appreciating their detail and design. A true
craftsman at heart, Ron could build just about anything — from furniture to remodeling
homes — and he did so with care, skill, and pride.
Ron is survived by his wife of 47 years, Caroline (Baughman) Allen; his children: Lisa
(Scott) Hixenbaugh of Romney, West Virginia; Ron (Julie) Allen Jr. of Forest, Ohio,
Libby (Michael) Martin of Dayton, Ohio; and Carrie (Ian) Inmon Sturgill of Fairborn,
Ohio; and his brother, Roger Allen of Lima, Ohio. He also leaves behind three
grandchildren, Alyssa Hixenbaugh, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Hixenbaugh, and Cole (Kenzie
Piper) Allen; five great-grandchildren: Dutcher Hixenbaugh, Isabella Allen, and Laila,
Isaiah, and Mika Massey; and many extended family members and friends who will
miss him deeply.
There will be no services at this time. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The Price-McElroy Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ron’s honor to the Mary Lou
Johnson Hardin County District Library or the Scioto Junction Model Train Club.
