of Mt. Victory

Loving husband, father, grandfather and friend Robert Eugene Legge passed away peacefully February 18, 2024, in his family home in Mount Victory surrounded by his loved ones. Preferably known as Bob, he was born August 11, 1947 in Kenton, Ohio. He married Fay Lynn Treen on September 27, 1968. 

Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years Fay Lynn Legge (Treen), daughter Florence Legge, son Charles Legge (Martina Legge), granddaughters Amara Elizabeth Legge, Alyssa Marie Legge, Audrey Kerrigan Legge, Mia Weaver, Kathleen Gossard, grandson Alexander James Charles Legge, sisters Barb Ritzler (Marty Ritzler), Kay McMillon (Gary McMillon), Judy Harbor, sister-in-law Betty Jo Hollard and 2 brothers: Lynn Dickerson (Linda Dickerson) and Jimmy Legge. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

 He is preceded in death by his parents Millard and Dorothy (Sipple) Legge, son Robert Eugene Legge II, brothers Mike Legge, Donnie Legge, Ronnie Legge, sister Pamela Manns, daughter-in-law Libby Gossard, and brother-in-law Louie Harbor. 

Bob attended Hardin Northern in 1966 before dropping out and joining the US Army. In the Army, Bob became a Paratrooper and was assigned to the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell. He deployed to Vietnam in 1967, where he earned the Bronze Star for driving a supply truck with no brakes through the hills and jungles in enemy territory to deliver needed supplies. Bob was shot losing over 60% use of his left arm and was awarded the Purple Heart. Upon returning to the States, Bob attended Ridgemont High School where he finished his 4-year high school degree in 2 years. He is a 1975 graduate of Ridgemont High school. He attended classes at Lima Community College and became a Deputy Marshal in Belle Center, Ohio.

 Bob was a member of the Mount Victory Fire Department until his retirement, an Elder and Deacon of the Mount Victory Church of Christ, life member of the Hardin County Bowling Association, member of the Hardin County Mounted Posse, life member of AmVets #2020 until its disbandment and transferred to #1994, and a life member of the Mount Victory VFW until it's disbandment and then transferred to the Forest VFW. 

 Bob enjoyed coaching t-ball to senior league baseball, softball for Mount Victory, and midget to JR high football. He was a Boy Scout Leader for many years. He was an avid bowler at Hillcrest Lanes. His hobbies included riding horses, breaking horses, hunting, fishing, wildlife, bird watching and shooting firearms. He was most proud of teaching himself how to play the guitar. His greatest accomplishment in his own words, “I got to know and love all my children and grandchildren before I died.” Bob was a great Christian, great husband, father, father-in-law, grandpa, and friend to many. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and lived life to the fullest. He will be deeply and greatly missed. We all love you, Bob. Rest in Peace! 

Funeral services for Bob will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 22, 2024, at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Mt. Victory with Pastor Bill Rozsman officiating. Burial with mililtary rites wil follow at Grove Cemetery in Kenton. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the funeral home.
