Robert Kline Obituary

Robert Gordon Kline ,77, entered into everlasting life on Saturday, August 29 at his home near Kenton.

Gordon was born on January 13, 1943 to the late Daniel & Vera (Plummer) Kline of West Mansfield, Ohio.

In 1964, he was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served as a Military Policeman.  After returning home, he met Kathleen Kay Clement at the Mt. Victory Family Center (the pool hall).  They were married on October 1, 1968 and she survives.

Together, they had two children, Candace (Tom) Watson of West Liberty and Kathy (Darrin) Kinney of Kenton.  Gordon and Kay are grandparents to Megan Kinney, Camille Watson, Brooke (Derek) King, Ethan Kinney, Michael Kinney and Zack Kinney (Zack was also Grandpa's best friend).  In addition, they have one great granddaughter, Melina, and several nieces and nephews.

Gordon is also survived by siblings:  Charlie (Jane) Kline of Bellefontaine, Carol Hale of Dayton and Marcille Price of Kenton.

Gordon worked as a rural mail carrier for 25 years, serving the people of Dunkirk and Dola.  He enjoyed horse racing and could talk about it for hours.  He was a member of the Kenton Moose, Kenton Elks and Hardin County Men's Garden Club.  Gordon was also a blood donor nearly all of his adult life.

Gordon was a family man.  He enjoyed tinkering  in his workshop and spending time outdoors where he patiently showed his grandchildren how to fix things, bait a hook and even allowed them to have the run of the barn -  including access to the hay mow and barn cats with little to no supervision.  He built a "grandkids" wagon which he hooked to the back of the mower for rides through the woods - providing tons of fun and endless memories to his grandchildren.  He loved his grandchildren.  Bringing joy to them brought joy to him.

Gordon enjoyed visiting with friends and his Dudley Township neighbors.  He was funny, frank, humble and completely unpretentious.  He worked hard and had a kind heart.  He was a loyal husband, father and grandfather.   Gordon was good.

A private gathering of immediate family will take place at a date to be determined. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the director, drivers and staff at the Wilkinson-McVitty Berlien Adult Day Center, 100 Memorial Ave, Kenton, OH 43326, where they treated Gordon with dignity  and kindness.  Friends and family are encouraged to support this wonderful organization in lieu of flowers or gifts.
