Funeral services for Rick D. Smith will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Jason Manns officiating. Burial will follow at Dunkirk Cemetery. Friends and family may visit 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home. The family has asked everyone to please wear their favorite sports team apparel.
Rick passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, at the Marion General Hospital. He was born on February 20, 1957, in Kenton to the late Charles and Marie (Barnett) Smith.
Surviving are 2 daughters; Emily (Corey) Ervin of Waynesfield, Kristen (Cameron Crain) Smith of Kenton, a sister, Sherry Lawrence of Tennessee, a brother, Dick (Young) Smith of Tennessee, 6 grandchildren; Harley Kindell, Marleyna Ervin, Memphis Crain, Virgina Crain, Capri Ervin, Jayden Crain, and several nieces and nephews.
Rick graduated from Hardin Northern High School in 1975. He worked as a supervisor for International Paper in Kenton for many years as well as a driver for the Hardin County Council on Aging for several years. Rick also owned and operated two separate DJ and Karaoke businesses, StarStruk and Snowballz Chance DJ and Karaoke. He was a member of the Kenton Moose.
Rick enjoyed singing, watching OSU Football and writing. He authored his own book named "Why Not Dallas". His true passion was golf, he was most happy when on a golf course.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be taken to Quest Federal Credit Union where a memorial account has been set up in Rick's honor.
