of Alger
A dual celebration of life with his late wife, Brenda, will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Crossroads Church of God in Lima. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with the arrangements.
Dick passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. He was born on August 7, 1940, in Roundhead, to the late Denver and Fannie (Hackworth) Zeigler. He married Brenda Bailey on April 27, 1985, and she preceded him in death on January 16, 2025.
Surviving are his children; Greg (Peg) Zeigler, Tammy Zeigler, Jeremy (Bonnie) Piper, Jennifer (Daniel) Moore, grandchildren; Jessica Heinemejer, Tara Ramon, Brittany Neely, Ashley Zeigler, April Frazier, McKenzie Piper, Trent Toomey, Peyton Toomey, McKenna Miller, Penelope Piper, 20 great grandchildren, and a brother, Don (Shirley) Zeigler of North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by brothers, David and Chuck and sisters, Edith and Sharon.
Dick graduated from Roundhead High School. After graduation he then joined the U.S. Army and served as a paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. Because of his experience in paratrooping, he had a cameo role in the movie, "The Longest Day".
After leaving the military, Dick worked as a truck driver for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed being a boy scout troop leader and volunteering at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in Lima.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Dick's honor may be made to Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in Lima.
