Nina Rhoades Obituary

Nina Elizabeth Rhoades 84

of Kenton

Funeral services for Nina Elizabeth Rhoades will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 10, 2025, at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Vincent Pontius officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the funeral home.

Nina was born on September 14, 1941, in McGuffey, Ohio to the late Wallace and Elva (Mannering) Shepherd.

One of 4 children, she was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Shepherd of Kenton, and a sister, Ruth Frater of Toledo, Ohio and sister, Sadie Patrick who survives in Micanopy, Fl.

Nina is survived by her children; Tony (Bobbi) Rhoades of Williamstown, Ohio, Todd (Nicole) Rhoades of Sacramento, California, Cheryl (Scott) Sorgen of Kenton, grandchildren; Wade (Andi) Rhoades of Lakeland, Florida, Dylan Rhoades of Sacramento, California, Haley (Dustin) Thompson of Kenton, step grandchildren; Cody (Amanda) Caudill, Logan (Spencer) Silvers all of Kenton, great-grandson; Connor Thompson of Kenton, great-granddaughter arriving in February of 2026, step great-grandchildren; Memphis, Dalton, Louella, and Tucker Caudill, Alexander and Wren Silvers all of Kenton. Also surviving is her best friend of over 50 years, Judy Tackett. The 2 of them and their families hold endless memories of camping, hosting cook outs, canning, and playing cards. The list could go on and on.

Nina graduated from Hardin Northern High School in 1959. After a few years as a beautician, she started babysitting in her home in 1975. She helped raise many children over the years, still going strong 50 years later, until covid forced her to retire in 2020.

She was best known for her baking skills. If you had the pleasure of eating "Nina Cake" you were truly blessed.

Nina never knew a stranger. She seemed to always run into someone she knew anywhere she went, and she was loved by all who knew her. She was one of the hardest working women and she set the bar very high. She was very strong in her faith and couldn't wait to get to the other side. Fly high our beautiful angel, until we meet again.

Memorial contributions in Nina's honor may be made to Bridge Hospice or Kenton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
