Michael Markley Obituary

Michael E. Markley 60

Of Beavercreek formerly of Kenton

After a 2- month illness with Stage 4 follicular lymphoma, Michael passed October 29, 2021 at his Beavercreek residence with family at his side. Michael E. Markley was born on May 1, 1961 to Frederick E. and Phyllis J. at Riverside Hospital, Columbus during his father's moot court trial. Phyllis (September 3, 1995) and Frederick (August 20, 2020) both predeceased him. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Kritzler Markley of whom he was married for 36 years, two daughters, Johnnah D' Alfonso (Keegan) and Gabrielle Markley, and an unborn granddaughter, Emery Rose.

He graduated from Kenton High School in 1979 as Valedictorian and lettered in the varsity sports of basketball, track, golf and tennis. He graduated with a dual Bachelor of Science major in Accounting and Finance with the highest distinction from Ohio Northern University in 1985.

Always loving his numbers and figures, he worked for O.H. Materials, Diamond Savings and Loan (Findlay), Dana Corp (Toledo), Profit Financial (Findlay) and lastly as an independent tax preparer and tax business (Dayton area). In 2019, Mike retired because of an eye stroke and his first bout with follicular lymphoma.

Michael loved attending and videotaping his daughters' band and sports events both in high school and college. Cycling on his yellow Cannondale bike which matched his father, Fred's, he rode throughout Hardin, Hancock and Greene counties. His longest ride in a single day was 185 miles from Beavercreek to Port Clinton. He started biking during grade school with his parents, and it's estimated that he rode over 100,000 miles over his lifetime. During the pandemic times, Michael hiked many miles with his wife and daughter, Gabrielle, throughout the park system in the Miami Valley area, Ashville, NC and Sierra Nevada Valley, NV region.

Mike attended College First Church of God (Findlay) and the Kettering First Baptist. His faith, daily devotions, and memorizing scripture were very important to him. He was a very kind husband and father, and his patience with others was unmatched. You always had his undivided attention when sharing stories with him.

Much appreciation for Pure Health Palliative team and the Ohio Hospice of Dayton crisis care nurses and staff for their 24-7 comfort care and support.

In lieu of flowers, all memorial contributions may be made to the educational fund for Emery Rose D' Alfonso. (Checks written to: Barbara Markley)
