of Kenton
A Mass of Christian burial for Mary Alice King will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, October 28, 2022 at The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Kenton. Family and friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. A rosary service will be held at 7:30 P.M. at the funeral home following the visitation. 
Mary passed away on Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Blanchard Place in Kenton. She was born on August 22, 1926 in Wapakoneta to the late Daniel R. and Susanne J. (Lear) Conkle. On November 17, 1945 she married Orland E. King and they later divorced.
Surviving are her children; Diana (Leonard) Smith of Kenton, Kathy Rolla of Cleveland, Daniel (Sheri) King of Kenton, Edie (Rick) Freyer of Monroe, NC, Michael (Terri) King of Baltimore, MD, Gregory (Connie) King of Kenton, Mary Anne (Tom) VanBuskirk of Kenton, Jennifer (Todd) McNutt of Kenton, 24 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; Don Conkle of Kenton, Bob (Cheryl) Conkle of McComb, a sister; Katherine Businger of Findlay, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a grandson; Brian King, a brother; Paul Conkle, a sister; Jeananne Dunn, a nephew; Tom Conkle, a niece; Susie Cramer and a sister-in-law; Donna Conkle. 
Mary attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church and School through the 5th grade. Her family then moved to Kenton in 1938 when her parents purchased the greenhouse to become known as Conkle Florists. She then attended the Immaculate Conception Church and St. Anthony Catholic School through the 8th grade, then moving to Kenton High School where she graduated in 1944.
Mary worked at the former San Antonio Hospital and was a former leader of the Red Cross in Kenton. Although her main occupation was an owner of King Plumbing and Heating. Mary retired in 1991 and moved to Fredericktown, Ohio to work as a caregiver for Msgr. John V. Wolf. and attended the St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon. Mary then moved back to Kenton and was a current member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she enjoyed being a lector and member of the choir.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton or the St. Vincent DePaul Society.
