Funeral services for Marie Nichols will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Minister Joe D. Scott Jr officiating. Burial will follow at Norman Cemetery. Friends and family may visit from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the funeral home.

Marie passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at her residence in Kenton. She was born on March 18, 1953, in Kenton to the late Joe "Toby" Scott and Pearlean (Samons) Wallace. On June 18, 1977, she married Darrell Emerson Nichols Sr, and he preceded her in death on January 16, 2021.

Surviving are 2 daughters; Erica Galkiewicz, Heidi Soledad, 2 stepsons; Darrell Emerson (Michelle) Nichols Jr, Jonathan Patrick Nichols, siblings; Minister Joe D. (Sherri) Scott Jr, David (Lori) Scott, Faith (Dean) Crockett, Harry Wallace Jr, Mary (Brad) Lightner, a brother-in-law, Rocky Prater, grandchildren; Abigail Nichols, Shay Allen Galkiewicz, Daniel Michael Lee Galkiewicz, Joshua Braden Emerson Galkiewicz, Ethan Michael Galkiewicz, and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shelby Dane Prater, and siblings; William (Cora) Scott, Donald (Debra) Kindell Scott, and Fawn Ann Prater.

Marie graduated from Kenton High School; she then went on to get her associate degree from Marion Technical College. She worked as a surgical assistant for Dr. Ray Bennett's office for many years. She was a member of the Quickstep Pentecostal Church of God.

Marie loved her family and her dog, Zoey. She liked to cook and was always cooking for her entire family. In her free time, Marie enjoyed gardening and reading mystery novels. 

Memorial donations in Marie's honor may be made to Not By Choice Outreach in Kenton.
