Funeral services for Katherine Marquis will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 12, 2024, at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Jim Evans officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery. Friends and family may visit 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home.

Katherine passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024, at St. Rita's Medical Center in Lima. She was born on October 22, 1951, in Kenton to the late Ernest and Nina Mae (Eakens) Newland. She married Thomas Marquis on April 20, 1969, and he preceded her in death on July 6, 2022.

Surviving is a fiancé, James Legge of Kenton, a daughter; Korinna (Brian) Kennell of Verona, VA, a son, Thomas E. (Deanna) Marquis of Patterson, 4 sisters; Reeta Treen of Kenton, Hazel Newland of Kenton, Iris Proffitt of Kenton, Robin Newland of Kenton, 2 grandchildren 6 step-grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, 7 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by 2 brothers: Marvin and William Minger.

Katherine retired from Honda of America.

She was a former member of the Four Square Gospel Church in Kenton and a former member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Amvets Post 1994. 

Katherine enjoyed sewing, doing crafts and cooking/baking for her family. She also had a deep love for animals.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Katherine's honor may be made to the Hardin County Humane Society.
