Joseph "Joe" Clement Obituary

Joseph E. "Joe" Clement  69

of Kenton

Services for Joseph E. "Joe" Clement will be held at a later date. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Joe passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 10, 2020, at the James Cancer Center in Columbus, Ohio, following a brief illness. Joe is survived by his wife Beverly (McMillion) of 39 years; they were married on March 15, 1980.

Joe was born in Bay City, Michigan, on February 21, 1950; the eldest son of  the late Earl and Jeanne Clement.  The family moved to Atlanta, Michigan, in 1962. Joe graduated from Atlanta High School in 1968, before attending Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Michigan, and then completing his Bachelor’s Degree at Central Michigan University.  As an avid learner, he continued coursework to fulfill his thirst for learning by taking many History courses at The Ohio State University.  He is also survived by his siblings, Jeannine Skonieczny, Moe (Bird) Smith, Colleen, David, Keith (Debbie) and Billy, and sister-in-law, Karen, and preceded in death by brothers, Dennis and Andy. He is also survived by Beverly’s family; Gary (Kay) McMillion, Russell (Louise) McMillion, and Steve McMillion, and many nieces and nephews.

Joe was retired from MEI in East Liberty, Ohio, and previously worked for Essex Wire and United Technology.  He also volunteered for 14 years as a part-time EMT for B-K-P Ambulance Service.  Joe was a member of the Kenton Moose Lodge and the Kenton YMCA.

Joe loved science fiction, and was also an avid War Games fan; he enjoyed playing computer war games and attended many war games gatherings with his friends.  He was passionate about travelling internationally to attend science fiction conventions.

Joe also enjoyed going camping with his family in Michigan. On every trip he would take a can of paint and some boards to fix the local park benches that were in bad shape. He never told anyone and didnt ask permission, he just thought he would help out.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Kenton’s  Marylou Johnson Library in Joe’s name.
