of Kenton

Funeral services for John "Jack" "Pete" F. Gunn will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. Burial with military rites will follow at Grove Cemetery in Kenton. Friends and family may visit 2 hours prior to services at the funeral home.

John passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at the Blanchard Place in Kenton with his wife, Nancy by his side. He was born on October 13, 1938, in Lima, Ohio to the late Garland and Ruth (Early) Gunn. He married Jackie Reider, they had two children, Becky and Steve (Tina) but later divorced. On November 17, 1972, he married Nancy A. Smith and she survives in Kenton. They had 2 children as well, Ian (Cindy) and Jeremy (Gena).

Also surviving are a brother, Larry Gunn, 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Don Gunn and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

John was a proud U.S. Army veteran, serving as a medic. He worked for Wilson's in Ada, as well as Rockwell Arvin Meritor for many years where he served on the safety committee.

John was always giving his time and efforts back to his community. He worked on the BKP Medical Squad, volunteered as an assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 150, helped coach Kenton Soccer, and was on the credit committee for Quest Federal Credit Union for 42 years.

He was a huge Ohio State Buckeye fan, so much so that he was an usher at the Ohio State Football games for over 20 years.

In his free time, John enjoyed playing cards, hunting and fishing. He shared his passion for fishing with his children and grandchildren. He also enjoyed golfing and bowling in the Rockwell leagues.

The family of John would like to thank the staff and residents at Blanchard Place for their care and becoming new friends. They were very kind to him.

Memorial donations in John's honor may be made to the Amvets Post 1994 Riders to help build wheelchair ramps for veterans.
