of Mt. Victory

A graveside service for John E. Sieg will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, December 05, 2022 at Hale Cemetery with Rev. Phil Compton officiating. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, December 04, 2022 from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. at Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Mt. Victory.
John Edward Sieg passed away on Thursday, December 1, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Mt. Victory on October 30, 1935 to the late Joanne Lucille (Elliott) Sieg and Edward Robinson Sieg. John married Norma Jean (Born) Sieg on October 2, 1955 and she survives in Mt. Victory.
Also surviving are his son Mark, 2 grandchildren; Nicholas A. Sieg, Ashton N. "Sieg" Gensheimer, 2 great grandchildren; Ethan Sieg and Avery Gensheimer. John was the oldest of four siblings; Dolores Park of Kenton, Mary Kay Kindle of Russell's Point and Paul Sieg of Olmsted Falls.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Patty L. Sieg Pfeiffer in February 2016.
John graduated from Mt. Victory High School in 1953 where he was a basketball manager and ran the spotlight for different plays. John also had a paper route delivering the Hardin County News Republican. He worked at Bakers Body Shop where he learned body work and painting cars. John and his classmate, Cedric Radcliff also had a body shop at the Sieg residence and John did body work for Chuck Wren and Gene Barnett.
John went on to work at Whirlpool in Marion in October 1955 where he was hired as a painter and had many different jobs as he pursued his career there along with some special projects which he was involved with. Towards the end of his 18 years at Whirlpool, John met John Bennett around 1968 and started a business venture in auto wrecking and used parts. They then formed Bennett and Sieg Auto Wrecking. This lasted until the partnership dissolved around 1986.
John then started collecting toy trucks and other collectables for many years buying and selling. He did it for the love of it. John had a 1960 red Lincoln convertible which he showed at some of the car shows locally. He also was known as the "chairman" among his fellow buddies at the auction that he went to because of all the wooden chairs he bought. After John finally retired he and Norma went on many bus and train trips across the USA seeing many sites. John enjoyed that because he could just sit back and enjoy the ride.
John attended Mt. Victory Church from a very young age. He looked forward to seeing his grandfather again as they spent many sunny days at O'Conners fishing.
The family of John wishes to thank you all for the many prayers, calls and concerns. He enjoyed all the years of friendship and love.
Memorial donations in John's honor may be made to Ohio State Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, American Lung Association or donor's choice.
