Jerry L. Temple, 68, of Kenton, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2026, at his home. He was born in Kenton on February 5, 1958, to the late Nelson and Josephine “Jo” (Pickering) Temple. On July 20, 1983, he married Jane Barnes, who survives.
He is also survived by his children: Elizabeth (Jason) Howe and Tracy (Anne) Temple, both of Kenton; Travis (Alicia) Temple of Bellefontaine; and Katie (Eric) Latimore of Kenton. He leaves behind his grandchildren: Kinley, Kiyah, and Kaylor Howe; Matthew, Abi, and Casen Temple; Landon and Ayva Stewart; Jayden Temple; and Hudson, Anderson, and Edison Latimore. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Lynda Zaring-Temple of Kenton. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Greg Temple.
A 1976 graduate of Kenton High School, Jerry began a 54-year career in snow removal and lawn care at the age of 14. He worked in construction with his father and went on to open The Creamery in 1982. He also owned and operated The Car Store which later became Kenton Lube Express. In 1996, he joined Motorists Mutual Insurance, retiring in 2018 as a Senior Claims Adjuster. Jerry enjoyed traveling, especially to Key West, and loved socializing at Indian Lake.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton, with Rev. Randall Forester officiating. Friends and family may visit at the funeral home two hours prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Heartland Hospice of Marion or the Northwest Kidney Foundation, 3100 West Central Ave., Suite 150, Toledo, OH 43606.
