Funeral services for James "Jimmy" E. Samons Sr. will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. Military rites will be held at the funeral home and his children will officiate the service. Friends and family may visit from 3:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 7, 2025, at the funeral home. 

Jimmy passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at The Hardin Memorial Hospital ER in Kenton. He was born on December 10, 1946, in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late Flossie (Wrenchy) and Lacy Samons Sr. He married Louise Davis and they were married for 47 years.

Also surviving are 5 daughters: Lorie Gambino of Arizona, Holly (Chris Meek) Gillenwater of Gallipolis, Tish (Matt Middleton) Lawrence of Harrod, Jennifer (Shannon) Wright of Springfield, Kelly (Christopher Baker) Samons of London, 5 sons: Scott Samons of Colorado, James E. Samons Jr. of Arizona, James (Patricia) Samons III of London, Robert James of Indiana, Gary V. Samons of Kenton, 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved cat, Jackson. 

He was preceded in death by a son, Thomas D. James, 5 sisters, Emma Lou McKean, Norma Jean Jame, Pearlean Wallace, Charlotte Treen, Wonda Kendrick, and a brother, Lacy Samons Jr.

Jimmy  was a proud veteran serving in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. 

He had many hobbies but most of all he enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family.

Memorial contributions in Jimmy's honor may be made to the American Heart Association.
