Graveside service for James D. Mabrey will be held at a later date. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with the arrangements.
James passed away on Friday, February 28, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 11, 1942, in Kenton to the late Elzie and Dorothy (Chamberlain) Mabrey. He married Debra Schofield on December 13, 1993, and she survives in Kenton.
Also surviving are daughter, Kendra (Marc) Hale of Kenton, son, Kevin W. Mabrey of Fairfield, stepson, Scott Lawarence of Marion, 3 grandchildren; Colton (Kristen) Hale, Carter Hale, Robert D Lawrence III, great-grandson, Oliver Hale, 7 sisters; Susan (Rodney) Mcquown of LaRue, Peggy Alexander of Wapakoneta, Elsie (Dave) Campbell of Marion, Marlene (Bill) Mundy of Findlay, Marilyn (Richard) Houchins of Lakeview, Janet (Pat) Evers of DeGraff, Donna (Jeff) Morrison of Kenton, brother, Elzie Mabrey Jr. of Kenton and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Hinkle, brothers, Ira Mabrey, John Brace, stepson, Robert D. Lawrence II and stepmother Margaret Mabrey.
James served honorably in the U.S. Navy.
He was a lifetime member of the Amvets and Eagles. James enjoyed and loved his family and especially spending time with his grandsons.
Memorial donations in James's honor may be made to Universal Home Health and Hospice.
