J. Richard Demmitt 90
of Mt. Victory
A private family service for J. Richard Demmitt will be held at Hale Cemetery at a later date. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Mt. Victory is assisting the family with arrangements.
Richard passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025, at the Kenton Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born on October 30, 1934, in Ginghamsburg, Ohio to the late John and Elizabeth (Funderburg) Demmitt. On March 24, 1956, he married Marcia Brown, and she preceded him in death on December 31, 2018.
Surviving are 2 sons, Nevin (Vickie) Demmitt of Mt. Victory, Scott (Linda) Demmitt of New Bloomington, a sister-in-law, Glenda Brown of Florida, grandson, Kaleb (Hailey) Demmitt, 2 step-grandchildren, Emily (Michael) Attard, Hannah (Kyle) Robinson, a great-grandchild on the way, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Butch Demmitt and a sister, Ester Jane Barnhart.
Richard was a proud U.S. Army Veteran.
He received his bachelor's degree in Dairy Science from The Ohio State University. He worked as a farmer and truck driver his entire life.
Richard was a handy man that could fix anything. He loved to work on things and tinker in his shop. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed taking his grandson fishing in his pond behind his house.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Richard's honor may be made to the KNRC Activities Fund for the residents or any local veterans' organization of the donor's choice.
