A celebration of life for Harriet V. (Kanzig) Whitaker will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at Boy Scout Lake from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. Burial at Grove Cemetery will take place at a later date. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.

Harriet passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the Marion General Hospital. She was born on April 16, 1941, in Kenton to the late Floyd and Freda (Yazel) Kanzig.

Surviving are 2 sons: Wes Kanzig of Kenton, Gary Whitaker of Kenton, 2 grandchildren, Skyler (Steven) Letteri, Jerrika Whitaker, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Karen Longstreth, Nancy Coats, Bill Kanzig, Gene Kanzig and an infant sister.

Harriet worked as a hairdresser and ran her own salon in Kenton for over 50 years. She was a lifetime member of the VFW.

In her free time, Harriet enjoyed oil painting and ceramics. She also loved to garden and raise flowers. Harriet had a love for animals, especially her dogs; Marley, Goochey and Sophie. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Harriet's honor may be made to the Hardin County Humane Society.
