Services for Dwight Deckard will be at a later date. Burial will take place in Fairview McDonald Cemetery. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
Charles Dwight Deckard died on Monday, January 10, 2022 at his residence. He was born on August 31, 1930 in Ridgeway to the late Valentina and Lena (Tschudy) Deckard. On June 19,1954 he married Audrey Vermillion and she preceded him in death on December 31, 2014.
Surviving are 2 daughters; Debra Clay of Fairfield, Denise (Doug) Ramsey of Ridgeway, a sister; Norma (Cliff) Shirk of Missouri, a sister-in-law; Mary Deckard of Texas, grandchildren; Taylor (Jonny) Merkle of Somerville, Demaris (Kevin) Hoyt of Marysville, Denver (Adreonna) Ramsey of Fremont, 3 great-grandchildren; Brentley and Braelyn Merkle, Blake Ramsey and several nieces and nephews.
Dwight was preceded in death by a brother; Calvin Deckard, sister and brother-in-law Idella and Bill Loy, son-in-law; Roger Clay and a nephew; Mike Deckard.
He was a 1949 graduate of Ridgeway High School. He worked for the New York Central Railroad and retired from Rockwell International.
Dwight was a former Ridgeway Village Council Member and a former firefighter for the Ridgeway Volunteer Fire Department.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arbor Day Foundation or donor's choice.
