Betty Ann VanHousen, 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on May 28, 2025, in Kenton, Ohio. Betty was born in Marquette, Michigan to Raymond and Florance Gentz on December 1, 1939. She married Gary Alan VanHousen on August 26, 1972, in Reno, Nevada.
Betty is survived by her children; Cheryl Lynch, Gene (Annette) Markey, Calvin (Michelle) Markey and Jaimie (April) VanHousen. Grandchildren; Derek Lynch, LaReya Sum, AmberLynn Markey, and Dean Markey, and many great grandchildren.
Betty is preceded in death by her husband Gary VanHousen and son Dean Markey, and several siblings.
She was a school bus driver for 20 years, beginning her career with Head Start of Solano County, California and retiring from Laidlaw in San Francisco.
Betty loved spending her time outdoors, camping, singing her heart out at karaoke and trying her luck at bingo. She was a proud lifelong member of the Moose Lodge and Eagles, where she enjoyed her favorite drinks and made lasting friendships.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date with family and friends. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is helping the family with the arrangements.
Betty lived a full and joyful life, and those who knew her will carry her memory in their hearts forever. We love you grandma.
