of West Mansfield

Jerry H. Corwin passed away surrounded by family at 6:50 pm on April 08, 2018 at the Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
He was born on July 30, 1948 in Forest, Ohio to the late Raymond Edward and Margaret Lucille (Jenkins) Corwin. On December 30, 1968 he married Cynthia S. Reisinger and she survives in West Mansfield.
Also surviving are 2 sons, Jerry D. (Michelle) Corwin of Lakeview, and Jeffrey A. (Andrea) Corwin of Bellefontaine; 9 grandchildren, Josie Sue Marie Corwin, Joseph Daniel Corwin, Amanda Green, Erin Fleming, Nicholas Fleming, Hayes Elizabeth Corwin, Philip Jeffrey Corwin, Grace Elaine Corwin, and Eli Allen Corwin; and 5 great-grandchildren. Along with 4 brothers, Jim (Chris) Corwin of Moab, Utah, Jack (Barb) Corwin of West Mansfield, John Corwin of Bellefontaine, and Bill (Sonja) Corwin of Lafollette, TN,; 2 sisters, Joan Pacey of Forest and Lisa Reed of Summerville, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by 2 sister-in-laws, Ann Corwin and Beverly Corwin; and 1 brother-in-law Larry Pacey.
Jerry was a Deputy with the Hardin County Sheriff Office, retiring after 17 years. He was also a member of the Hardin County Sheriff Office Mounted Posse for 15 years.
An Army Veteran who served during the Vietnam War; he became a member of the VFW Post 1080 in Bellefontaine, where he was the Commander and also a member of the Honor Guard Detail. Jerry was a member of the American Legion in Bellefontaine. He was also a volunteer for Vets to DC.
He was the proprietor of C & J Pizza in Quincy for 10 years. He was also a former President of the Rushsylvania Rough Riders, and a former baseball coach.
Jerry was a farmer who raised cattle and quarter horses for a number of years. He also loved to watch his grandchildren in all their activities.
Friends may call from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 13, 2018, at Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. The funeral will be held at 1:00 Saturday, April 14, 2018 with Pastor Terry Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Hale Cemetery in Mt. Victory, with military graveside rites by the VFW - American Legion Honor Guard of Bellefontaine, and the Casualty Assistance of Fort Knox Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the VFW Post 1080 Scholarship Fund.
