Janet Sutherland Jeffers died on Monday, June 4, 2018 at Marion General Hospital at the age of 89. She was born march 29, 1929 to Harold and Ruth Sutherland on her parent's farm in Taylor creek Township, Hardin County, Ohio. One brother, Neil Sutherland, and two sisters, Elinor Powell and Marilyn Hehl are deceased as well as sister-in-law Imogene Sutherland and Charlene Jeffers and brothers-in-law Donald Powell and William Jeffers. Surviving is Joyce Clark of Ada. 
She graduated from Ridgeway High School in 1946. She was employed as the school secretary for two years, then served as a deputy clerk in the Hardin County Probate Court until leaving to raise her family. She returned to work as a clerk in the business office of Hardin Memorial Hospital and retired after twenty-nine years. 
October 8, 1950, she married Russell Kent Jeffers at First Christian Church (Disciples) in Kenton, Ohio. To this union were born Kevin (Anne), Kristen (Henry) and Matthew (Christine), grandchildren Abra, Dane, Lauren, Hannah, Tess, Greg, Rachel and Isaac, and great-grandchildren Hallie, Kellen, Brody, Patrick, Leland, Hudson, Julian, Weston and Maxwell. She is also survived by nieces and nephews Brian, Gary, Sherry, Valerie, Jill, Deb, Brent, Tobin and Tammy. A niece, Brenda, is deceased. 
She was a longtime member of Hardin County Farm Bureau Council #37, a member of Ridgeway United Methodist Church where she served on United Methodist Women, a charter member of the King's Daughters Silver Star Circle, a member of the Hardin Memorial Hospital Guild, and a volunteer at Hardin Memorial. She was a 4-H advisor for many years. She was a member of the Ohio Cattlemen Association and enjoyed attending the National Cattlemen conventions in several states. 
Visiting hours are 4:00pm to 7:00pm Friday, June 8, 2018 and 12:00 P.M. to 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Price - McElroy Funeral home in Mt.Victory. 
Funeral services are at 1:00 P.M. Saturday, June 9, 2018. Burial will follow in Hale Cemetery. 
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Ridgeway United Methodist Church or Mary Lou Johnson Library.
