Dale Hesse Obituary

Dale Hesse, 82, of Dunkirk, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.  He was born in Celina, Ohio on December 16, 1936 to Elmer and Cecile (Millisor) Hesse.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Hesse.  Dale is survived by his wife, Sondra, son Kevin Hesse and his wife Deb of Phoenix, AZ, daughter Lisa Shepherd and her husband Tim of Forest, OH.  He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jeniffer Jones, Erin Martin, Sarah (Hesse) Jorgensen, Alex Hesse, Morgan Shepherd; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Dale graduated from Mendon Union High School in 1954, after which he enlisted and served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Alaska.  Dale married Sondra (Brookhart), his high school sweetheart, on May 3, 1959. He was an avid golfer was and especially enjoyed doing so on his many trips to Myrtle Beach and Phoenix with friends and family.  Dale was a big sports fan and loved to watch NASCAR and root for the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State Buckeyes.  In recent years he became a dedicated caretaker for his wife Sondra and in May they were able to celebrate their 60th anniversary.  He also loved being outdoors and taking meticulous care of his lawn and garden.  He was a proud grandpa and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.  His family will have enduring memories of Dale sitting on the front porch swing, enjoying his mother's famous molasses cookies with his faithful dog Sasha at his side.

A celebration of Dale's life will be held at a later date.
