Private graveside services for Burnell F. Nelson will held on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Dunkirk Cemetery with Pastor David Fetter officiating.
He died at 5:30 am on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Brookdale in Findlay. He was born on June 26, 1922 in Dunkirk to the late Carl F. and Ruth (Getz) Nelson. He married Dorothy Frech and they later divorced, then in February of 1959 he married Delma Jeanne "Pat" Kearns and she preceded him in death on December 11, 2017.
Surviving are his son, Dean Allan (Barb) Nelson of Findlay; daughter, Barbara (Bill) Decker of Oklahoma; step-daughters, Bethany Amstutz-Elwood of Bellefontaine, Kimberlie (John) Nabors of Eagle River, Alaska, and Patricia (Ed) Schoenberger of Omaha, Nebraska; step- grandchildren, Jonathan Schoenberger, Kara Nabors, and Marcus Price.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Eldon Nelson and a step-grandson, Milton Weyer.
Burnell was a 1940 graduate of Dola High School, a lifetime farmer in Hardin County and a bus driver for Hardin Northern School District for 30 years. He also was a Merchant Marine in WWII.
He was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Findlay and an honorary member of the North Western Ohio Tractor Pullers.
Burnell loved mowing the lawn, tractor pulls, and driving thru the country side.
