Upon graduation, she worked as Secretary of the Ridgeway Elementary and High School for a few years. Accepting Jesus Christ as her savior at a young age, Barbara kept a servant's heart all throughout her life. She was a life-long member of Ridgeway United Methodist Church, where she served in many offices throughout her 50 plus years of attending and serving the church. Barbara's hands were rarely still. She was an excellent seamstress, homemaker, and farmwife, making the most of every opportunity to give of her time, skills and talents to whoever would ask her help or have need of them. This love of sewing, baking and serving people lead her to start a small antique, craft, and bakery shop business in the 80's in a historic home in Mt. Victory, known as Park Place.

Barbara was a member of Ridgeway United Methodist Women, Eastern Star, Silver Star Circle of Ridgeway, and a member of the Hardin County Farm Bureau. She gave over 30 years of service as a 4-H advisor and enjoyed volunteering her time to help the local community food pantry, God's Lifeline of Mt. Victory.

Barbara treasured her family foremost, serving her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and serving the community and her church family. She enjoyed her farm life with Jim and the family. She traveled with her husband to many places in the United States and Canada.
