A celebration of life service will be held at 4:00 Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the Central Church of Christ in Kenton, with Pastor Willis Moe officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Friends may call from 2:00 until time of services on Sunday. Military rites will be conducted by Amvets Post 1994.
He died at 7:00 am Friday, January 22, 2016 at his residence. He was born on March 20, 1931 in West Mansfield to the late Earl and Nellie (Staley) Morris. On October 6, 1951 he married Dorothy "Polly" Wooley and she survives in Kenton.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Sara (Tom) Ansley of Kenton; Annie (Tim) Conkle of Kenton; and Jeannie (Alan) Van Horn of Waynesfield; 2 sons, Dan (Jennifer) Morris of Kenton; and Sam (Suzie) Morris of Cleveland, TN; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 1 sister, June Roberts of Rushsylvania.
He was preceded in death by 1 granddaughter, Emily Van Horn; 1 great granddaughter, Selah Gahler; 4 brothers, Bernard; Leo; John; and Robert Morris; and 4 sisters, Berniece Elliot; Rose Correll; Christle Wagner; and Virginia Stanley.
Dick was a member of the Central Church of Christ and a 1949 graduate of West Mansfield High School. He worked as a mill wright apprentice at International Harvester in Springfield from 1949 - 1951. He went into the Army in 1951 - 1953 serving during the Korean Conflict in the 7th Infantry Division as a radio operator. After his discharge he returned to International Harvester until 1955, when he started farming in Rushsylvania, moved to Huntsville then farmed from 1969 in Kenton where he managed and operated the Kia Ora dairy farm for 25 years.
  Dick loved spending time with family and friends. He especially enjoyed family camping and playing Euchre and dominoes with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was always a winner, according to "Grandpa's Rules". He was known to his CB friends as Cow Power and was loved by all who knew him.
Arrangements are being handled by Price - McElroy Funeral home in Kenton.
