A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary R. Scharf will  be held at 10:00 A.M., on Friday, September 8, 2017 at The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton with Father David Young officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in Kenton. Friends may call from 3:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M, on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton. A rosary service will be held at 7:00 P.M. following the visitation.
She died at 11:45 A.M. on Monday, September 4, 2017 at her residence. She was born on November 10, 1928 in Kenton to the late Aloysius I. and Cecelia (Franklin) Wolf. On November 9, 1946 she married Carl A. Scharf and he preceded her in death on March 30, 1974. She then married John Scharf on January 7, 1978 and he survives in New Bloomington.
Surviving are 10 children; Michael Scharf of Marion, Thomas Scharf of Cape Coral, FLA, Patrick (Gail) Scharf of Marion, Stephen Scharf of Marion, Mary Jo (Dave) Miller of Platteville, CO, Diane (Frank) Robinson of Richwood, Carol (John) Thiel of Marion, Richard (Christina) Scharf of Mansfield, Jane Scharf of Marion, Paula Price of LaRue, 4 half sisters; Linda Terry of Santa Monica, CA, Agnes (Ed) Rose of Prospect, Anna (Dale) Crump of Marion, Linda (Terry) White of Marion, 3 half brothers; Jack (Wanda) Fierce of Proctorville, Ron (Tracey) Wolf of LaRue, John (Pam) Wolf of LaRue, 29 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a half brother; Leo Wolf, a daughter-in-law; Shasta Scharf, a son-in-law; Jesse Price and 2 grandsons; Matthew John Scharf, and Joseph Killian Scharf.
Mary was a member of the Saint Josephs Catholic Church in LaRue, and a member of the Women's Guild within the church. When the church closed in Larue, she became a member of The Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kenton.
Mary was a farm wife and would help around the farm, wherever she was needed. She also drove school bus for a year and then became a cook for 24 years for the Elgin School District. After she retired, her and her husband would go camping and do some traveling.
Mary was a devote catholic who prayed for her family daily. She loved her family, and enjoyed cooking for them and spending as much time with them as she could.
