Graveside services with Military Rites for Joseph McCalla will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 22, 2016 at The Ridgeway Cemetery with Pastor David Moore of the Walnut Grove U.M. Church officiating. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

He died September 5, 2016 at the Methodist Boerne Emergency Center in Boerne Texas. He was born May 5, 1952 in Ridgeway to the late Hughes and Bessie (Godwin) McCalla.

Surviving are 2 brothers; James L. McCalla of Live Oak, TX, David (Sarah) McCalla of St. Mary's, GA, 5 sisters; Janice Long of Mt. Victory, Virginia Artis of West Mansfield, Beverly (Roger) Jenkins of Lewistown, Mary (Junior) Tevis of West Mansfield, Linda (Dick) Keller of Bellefontaine, a daughter; Shannon Jo (Bill) Ondracka of Knoxville, Tenn, a aunt; Evelyn McCalla of Belle Center, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his older brother; John McCalla.

Joe attended school at Ridgemont. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Sperry AS-12. He worked various jobs before starting his own welding business.

Joe's favorite pastime was playing Blue Grass music, especially his with his banjo.
