A gathering of family and friends to celebrate the life of James Edward Prevatte will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, February 26, 2018 in the fellowship hall of The First United Methodist Church in Kenton. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with the arrangements.
He died at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his residence. He was born October 19, 1957 in Lake City, South Carolina to the late J.T. and Leonora (McCutcheon)Prevatte. On October 24, 1987 he married Louise Oberlitner and she survives in Kenton.
Also surviving are 3 sons; Kenneth (Julie) Culver of Spring, TX, Jamie (Nicole) Culver of Manchester, N.H., Andy (Deanna) Culver of Columbus, 2 sisters; Joyce (Michael) Jordan of Raleigh, N.C., Frances Molefsky of Burke, VA, a brother; John Prevatte of Warner Rapids, GA, 5 grandchildren; Olivia, Mason, Grace, Nora, Levi and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister; Janice Prevatte.
James was a U.S. Air Force Veteran.
He received his associates degree in tool and dye making. He also attended John Wesley College where he received a certificate in counseling. James then used the certificate to become a counselor for the Nicki Cruz Outreach in order to held spread the word of God to the youth around the country.
James ministered wherever he went, and would always talk about Yeshua (Jesus in Hebrew) to whomever would listen.
James also enjoyed firearms, especially collecting them.
Memorial donations in James' honor may be made to Universal Hospice.
