A celebration of life for Gary L. Mills will take place in conjunction with The VFW Post 1182 fish fry on Friday, May 13, 2016 from 5-7 at the post. There will also be a memorial poker run and spaghetti dinner in honor of Gary, on June 4, 2016. The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton is assisting the family with arrangements.
He died unexpectedly at his residence at 9:27 A.M. on Monday May, 9 , 2016. He was born February 18, 1943 In Bucyrus to the late Chester and Mildred Mills. On August 27, 1965 he married Jo Anne Grubb and she survives in Forest.
Also surviving are a daughter; Candi (Robb) Thivner of Delaware, a son; Butch (Andrea) Mills of Forest, a sister; Nancy O'Donnell of Texas, a brother; Brian (Cathy) Mills of Sunbury, 5 grandchildren; Dylan Gray, Jesse Mills, Tyler Gray, Jacob Mills, Alison Mills, 5 great-grandchildren; Kyran Mills, Carter Mills, Alaina Mills, Aubrey Mills, Jason Longberry, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a sister; Marti Thompson.
Gary was an Army Veteran and was just named Commander of his VFW post. He was also a member of the NRA. Gary worked a lot of different jobs. He was a Lieutenant for the Clint Township Fire Department and a Motorcycle Funeral Escort Officer for the Franklin County Sherriff Department. He also delivered brand new Flexible City Buses around the United States, and the Marion County International Raceway, where he was a starter. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing the guitar, and anything to do with an engine, which included boats, motorcycles and NASCAR.
