Funeral services for Dorothy Mae Thacker will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 26, 2016 at The Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Elder Tim Bash officiating. Burial will follow at Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday, August 25 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
She died at 1:55 P.M. Sunday, August 21, 2016 at The Fox Run Manor in Findlay. She was born April 26, 1932 in Marion to the late Elmer Floyd and Pauline (Lawrence) VanBuskirk. She married Robert C. Lawrence and they later divorced. She then married Norman O. Thacker on December 8, 1972 and he preceded her in death on July 2, 2002.
Surviving are 2 daughters; Carol (Duane) Gibson of Kenton, Bobbie Lynn (Rodger) Brauneller of Arlington, 2 sons; Larry Paul Lawrence of Mt. Blanchard, Shaun (Kristie) Thacker of Forest, a sister; Ruthella Marquis of Kenton, a brother; James VanBuskirk of Delaware, a sister-in-law; JoLane VanBuskirk of Elida, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by 3 brothers; John VanBuskirk, Joe VanBuskirk, Daniel VanBuskirk, 3 sisters; Mary Lou Smith, Imo Gene Cummings, Patricia Hastings, and a daughter-in-law; Betty Lawrence.
Dorothy was a member of the Pythian Sisters, Red Hat Society, and several of the local churches throughout her years.
She enjoyed ceramics, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Memorial donations may be made to Bridge Hospice.
