Funeral services for Andrew G. Dirmeyer will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Price-McElroy Funeral Home in Kenton with Pastor Steve Ramsey officiating. Burial with military rites will follow at Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, May 9th.
He died at 8:20 A.M. Friday, May 6, 2016 at Kenton Nursing and Rehab. He was born on September 26, 1926 in Dola to the late Andrew George Sr. and Berniece (Harris) Dirmeyer. On September 2, 1945 he married Virgina Minter and she preceded him in death on February 18, 2002.
Surviving are 2 daughters; Roxie (Denny) Hensel of Kenton, Kristie (Fred) Reichert of Ada, 1 sister; Marian Kissling of Bluffton, 2 brothers; Vernon (Doris) Dirmeyer of Dunkirk, Roger (Elaine) Dirmeyer of Dola, 6 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother; Dallas Dirmeyer, and a brother-in-law; Charles Kissling.
Andy was a 1945 graduate of Dola High School and an army veteran., serving in Europe during WWII. He was a member of the AMvets Post 1994, St. Johns Lutheran Church in Dola, and on the Pleasant Township Zoning board. Andy was a farmer who loved his work and to work hard. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and wood working. He often made things for his children and grandchildren.
